Default Suggestion for skill balance: FREE CORE Skillpack

With every additional chapter of new mechanisms into the game.

New mechanics that players who dont have that new chapter may not be able to counter properly.

So I propose, that Anet creates very small skillpacks per free each time a new chapter comes out.

the skillpacks add CORE skills that EVERY chapter will have from that point on.

These skills are specifically to add counters to new skills that would otherwise be overpowered and end up getting nerfed to hell and back *cough*

anyways....

comments?
ideas?
conjecture?

Erm... Have you put an interrupt on your bar lately?

Anyway, as to the suggestion, I'm sort of so-so. I don't really think it's necessary, because there are already a lot of skills to counter the imbalanced ones already. It's not really a lack of counters in the Core set that is the problem, but a lack of viable ones (other than the flat-out amazing ones, like [wiki]Diversion[/wiki] and [wiki]Distracting Shot[/wiki]). I think a better idea would be to buff some of the existing Core skills, rather than adding more.

For the time being, I'm /mulling.

Erm... Have you positioned your dervish behind your backlines to put up forms latley? Interrupts don't counter forms. Ice eles do.

I doubt this would ever be implemented, since if they did too good of a job with the core packs it would remove alot of incentive for pvpers to buy new expansions. It would have to be gimpy. Also, I think ANet should be adding new skills at as slow a rate as possible, while still keeping the game fresh.

After this last patch, the metagame has become very vague and I think it's going to stay like that a while longer. I'm in no hurry to see new skills in guild wars.

Interrupts counter the forms themselves, and Ice Elementalists counter the Dervishes that are in them. Positioning wasn't even mentioned; counters, however, were, and therefore, that is what my reply was based upon. Even if a Dervish does run into the mid- or back-line to enter their form, the two second activation time following the X second retreat is long enough for a Mesmer or, preferably, a Ranger, to get into interruption range, if they are in the general area and in a position (not necessarily physical) to take the "shot", so to speak.

Maybe I should stop replying to things in such a literal sense, and start replying with rants that include every possible situation, in an effort to avoid having to elaborate upon my statements in separate posts throughout a thread.
